The Deortegas organic extra virgin olive oils are the fresh and delicate products of a healthy mixture of ideas and dreams, hard work and deep care and respect for the earth.
The Deortegas family have been farmers for many generations and for the last 30 years have produced entirely organic olives in the traditional non-intensive way. Over 10 years ago we committed to creating our own oil mill and through this have discovered the true essence of our olives.
In 2008 Marcelo Ortega and Rafaela Ortega created their own oil mill with a very clear objective, to produce delicious organic extra virgin olive oil of the highest quality and to cultivate and produce this in the traditional way with the greatest possible respect for the natural environment and inspired by a true love of the olive.
We are the second generation, passionate about this very special family project and motivated by the desire to return to the land. Committed to respectful agriculture we continue caring for the fruit that we have watched grow from small to produce something that we are part of and that also tells our story.
In 170 hectares of traditionally cultivated, organic land we care for 33,000 olive trees of all ages. Spread between three estates (2 unwatered and 1 irrigated) these are all planted in the traditional non-intensive 8x7 metre pattern.
In this place, with the incomparable combination of the earth, the sun and the Mediterranean air, we cultivate the four varieties of fruit Arbequina, Picual, Cornicabra and Hojiblanca.


Our Hands hardened with the wisdom of time through the continuous connection between earth, tree and fruit. Being a small family business allows us to control of the entire process from the countryside to the final product. We press the fruit (always cold pressed) immediately that it is harvested to obtain an organic extra virgin olive oil, surprising in its intensity, the result of our commitment to care and quality. We have developed and rigorously control all aspects of our oil production. We grow, press, bottle and market our own harvest. All of our work is aimed at achieving a harmonious growth of the tree and its fruit so that they can develop correctly and finally arrive at the end of the cycle in our mill in a perfect state of maturity. Our harvest time starts around the middle of October when the fruit reaches the perfect moment of ripeness. The olives are harvested directly from the tree (never taken from the ground after falling) and taken to our oil mill, carefully packed in boxes to prevent any damage to the fruit. Once we have separated any leaves and twigs from the fruit, we start the process of extracting the oil. We press the olives cold (always below 27 degrees) and always within 12 hours of picking to ensure freshness and quality. At the end of this process the results are spectacular. Pure delicious olive oils with intense green and gold shades; well balanced, harmonious and elegant.


The pure fruit essence at the heart of the Mediterranean diet. In the Deortegas oil mill ,we make EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) of the highest quality, organic, cold pressed and with very low levels of acidity (between 0.1 and 0.2%) offering a natural juice of great richness and balance. We make oil only from our own olives from our four varieties Arbequina, Picual, Cornicabra y Hojiblanca, as well as a delicate Coupage which combines the four. An authentic gourmet delicacy this oil will surprise and delight, elevating any dish with fresh, fruity, green, delicate or more powerful aromas depending on the variety but all well balanced and elegant. A bottle of Deortegas EVOO contains the essence of the olive, an organic extra virgin olive oil made with love and dedication from carefully selected olives, harvested at their peak of maturity, transported carefully packed in boxes and a cold pressed. The result we obtain is the purest essence with an intense green and gold shades depending on the variety each with its own characteristics. Our EVOO is a juice that will surprise and awaken the senses and one that we can enjoy in its pure healthy form.


To maintain a form of agriculture that cares for and respects life is essential in these modern times. Love of the earth and care for the countryside and its traditions, these are the the base of our organic production. This combination gave birth to our commitment, our character and our roots. We have developed an integrated sustainable model of agriculture making the best possible use of everything that we take from the land and recycling all the by-products of our oil production. We mix the olive residues and tree prunings with natural manure and use it to fertilise our own land organically. We use the olive stones as fuel to provide heating and hot water in our oil mill and the leaves that we collect while cleaning the olives provide organic livestock feed. This way we complete the natural cylcle that we consider essential for the future of our world and that forms part of our philosophy as farmers and as a business. We also work continually investigating new ways of helping to preserve the natural environment so that little by little we can apply them to our olive groves focusing our efforts on keeping them healthy and sound. This way our olives and their natural environment can grow and flourish together in the best possible conditions. Our aim is very clear, to produce a fruit with all its flavours, aromas and properties using agricultural methods that respect the natural world and from that fruit create a healthy food allowing us to enjoy something completely unique. All of the Deortegas olive oils are certified by the Region of Murcia Organic Farming Council and the European Commission of Organic Farming guaranteeing that the oils produced from our olives do not contain any form of pesticides and nothing else that is harmful to health or the environment.
