Centennial olive trees in a privileged area of ​​the Costa Brava

The Finca Fontclara, located in the heart of the Baix Empordà, between the charming medieval villages of Peratallada, Palau-Sator and Ullastret y Pals (popularly known as the golden triangle of the Empordà), has various fields scattered around the area between rice fields and fruit trees. It is a privileged place on the Costa Brava, blessed by a microclimate on land with high production power: it is a kind of architectural and natural golden mile from which the best liquid treasure is born, Fontclara extra virgin olive oil. 

Excellence, tradition and innovation

The sustainable approach of the farm is a hallmark of Fontclara. It is produced in a respectful and ecological way, under the supervision of the Consell Català de la Producció Agrària Ecològica, which guarantees compliance with the required regulations. 

Some 6,000 olive trees are currently grown on 35 hectares of land, many of them centuries-old trees. There are olives of the Arbequina and Argudell varieties, of which only the best specimens are preserved, after a meticulous manual selection process. They are processed immediately after the harvest in the same oil mill on the farm with the Mori mill, from Italy, the latest technology to optimize the quality of the oil.

The history

The story of Fontclara is that of a crush. That of Roland Zanotelli with the Empordà, with its landscape, its flora, its tradition, its land, its gastronomy, and, of course, its olive groves. Passionate about botany, gastronomy and art, and captivated by the area, he decided to turn his dream into a real project by creating roots with people from the territory in this beautiful place that, in his eyes, collected like no other in the world all the values ​​of the Mediterranean spirit. From this love affair with the centuries-old olive trees that he found planted on the estate in the municipality of Palau Sator, Fontclara extra virgin olive oil was born, of the Arbequina and Argudell varieties. 

A tireless entrepreneur, he immediately began to market Fontclara Oil around the world. A singular, unique collection limited by vintages that has been welcomed and praised by international gourmets, as well as receiving critical acclaim. Indeed, Fontclara Oil has already won numerous awards at international competitions and, what is more important, the support of a loyal public eager to feel the essence of the Empordà on their palates. 

An extension of land, which increases year after year, will allow in the coming years to increase the production of liters of oil, and in the future the integration of complementary products in the Fontclara catalog is also planned. But that will be another story.
