Herdade Da Calada

olive oils

The olive grove, made up of hundreds of secular olive trees and other younger ones, is another of the treasures of Herdade da Calada.

Our olive oils, both award-winning, are made exclusively with olives from traditional species, Galega, Picual and Cobrançosa, grown and harvested on the Herdade.

Our history

Founded in 1854 by the descendants of the Duke of Lencastre, surrounded by cork oaks and eucalyptus trees from Australia, Herdade da Calada is hidden among the gentle hills of Alentejo.

Over the years, it has been subject to several interventions and improvements, but it preserves the beauty and elegance of the original design of the main building and today it is one of the most modern and innovative wine estates in Portugal.

The Herdade has a total area of 420 hectares, 55 of which are vineyards and 126 are olive groves. The remainder is distributed over the cork forests, cereal crops and our magnificent rural accommodation.
