MASSERIE DI SANT’ERAMO

OUR OLIVE OIL MILL IN THE HEART OF APULIA

Masserie di Sant’Eramo is a company created by the initiative of the Natuzzi family in the early 90s. The plant is located in the heart of the biggest olive-oil production district in the world: Apulia. The high quality, the pursuit of excellence, the custom in the relationship with international demanding custumers have always characterized the commitment of the Natuzzi family to the enhancement of the products of their land and to the spread of the Made in Italy in the world, by aiming at a niche market, that is more sensitive, culture-conscious, focused on high quality, and the benefits of the extra virgin olive oil.

ANCIENT TRADITION EVEN IN THE NAME

The name Masserie di Sant’Eramo has ancient origins linked to the prestigious Apulian Masserie.

The brand, Masserie di Sant’Eramo, evokes these typical and prestigious rural buildings, the Masserie indeed, which in the history of our land were residences of the aristocratic and upper-middle-class families: the big landowners. Here the economic life was carried out, mainly the agricultural one, aimed at the production, processing and conservation of the products of the land. Today the Masserie, thanks to their noble history, have become very charming spaces, dedicated to tourist hospitality, symbols of the special soul of Apulia, defined as the most beautiful region in the world by National Geographic.

THE MISSION

The social and economic mission of the company is to enhance the best resources of our land, also due to its strong bond with the land. The aim is to valorize the typical food products by connecting them to the history, culture, and tradition of our land with special attention and passion for quality.

A THREE-GENERATION FAMILY STORY

At Masserie di Sant’Eramo, from olives cultivation and harvesting to olive’s selection and processing, from bottling to quality assurance, rigorous care and control are exercised to always offer to our customers a premium extra virgin olive oil.

CENTURIES-OLD OLIVE TREES THE SYMBOL OF APULIA

Olive trees with their beauty and charm, conveyed by the curved and knobby trunks, represent the history of Apulia through their thousand-year-old presence on the territory.

OUR EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL

Masserie di Sant’Eramo Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the prime pure ‘juice’ that is extracted from the olives, without undergoing any chemical treatment whatsoever.
Masserie di Sant’Eramo Extra Virgin Olive Oil is Cold Extracted. This means that olives are pressed only once, within hours of being picked, and that we do not resort to heat to increase yields. Only this process ensures a very low acidity level, a high nutritional content and that the flavour of these premium olives are kept intact, resulting in an extra virgin olive oil of wonderful fullness.

At Masserie di Sant’Eramo we have complete control over all phases of production.

FROM APULIA WHERE THE BEST OLIVES GROW, THE TOP EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL IS BORN

How is our extra virgin olive oil made?

Masserie di Sant’Eramo Extra Virgin Olive Oil is made from handpicked olives. Careful picking ensures that the olives are picked at the right degree of their ripeness. Of course, it takes a lot of work to pick olives by hand but this is the best harvesting method known as “brucatura” as it results in the least bruising of the olives.

Our extra virgin olive oil is produced from selected olives, mainly Coratina, Ogliarola Barese, and Peranzana cultivars. Only olives that pass our rigorous scrutiny are pressed to become Masserie di Sant’Eramo Extra Virgin Olive Oil. The olives are pressed within few hours of being picked to ensure that their bouquet and flavour are kept intact.

As for extracting our extra virgin olive oil we use the Continuous Combine System that links the advantages of both methods: the time-honoured and the modern one.

The result of the time-honoured method with granite millstones for milling the olives is a milder extra virgin olive oil.

The advantages of the modern method known as Continuous System are the following: the olives are not manipulated, thus ensuring high hygienic standards; the stainless steel equipment prevents oxidation due possible contact with the atmosphere.

Using a certified quality system means creating standards to be respected on the basis of voluntary international norms. We succeeded in achieving these standards thanks to careful attention to detail at every step of the production chain.

STORAGE

Our extra virgin olive oil is kept in stainless steel tanks located in the basement at 10mt. under street level, in temperature-controlled rooms. This is the best system to preserve its quality.
